Prescriptions

BLUEMOTH hearing aid purchases require a prescription hearing test, also known as an audiogram.

Why you need a prescription

Hearing aids are vital tools for improving communication and enhancing quality of life for those with hearing loss. However, obtaining them requires a prescription for several important reasons. First, a comprehensive audiological evaluation ensures that the hearing aids are tailored to your specific needs, providing optimal amplification and comfort. Additionally, a prescription helps identify any underlying health issues that may require attention, safeguarding your overall well-being. Finally, it ensures that you receive professional fitting and follow-up care, maximizing the effectiveness of your hearing aids.

Steps to getting a prescription

Follow the steps below to obtain your prescription hearing test. You can also contact us to learn more about our at-home hearing testing services.

  1. Find your provider
    1. You can either search online for audiologists or hearing healthcare specialists near you. Or, use your insurance as a guiding source for providers in your area that work with your healthcare program.
  2. Get scheduled
    1. You’ll want to get scheduled for an IN-PERSON hearing test. We can only fit hearing technology on patients who have received a true prescription (aka: hearing test) from a licensed provider. Therefore, online “hearing tests” cannot be accepted.
  3. Get your results
    1. It’s important that you get a copy of your hearing test results following testing. It's your hearing health info - so, a copy of your results is easy peasy to get.
  4. Upload your prescription
    1. We make it easy to upload your results after your online order.
